St Peter's, Colchester

Midweek at St Peter’s

Church life at St Peter’s is not only about Sundays. During the week there are opportunities to pray, study the Bible, serve, build friendships, care for one another, and explore Christian faith.

Some activities happen every week. Others happen fortnightly, monthly, termly, or at particular times of year. For current dates and details, please see ChurchSuite or contact the Church Office.

Prayer

Prayer is central to the life of St Peter’s. We want to depend on God in all that we do, both on Sundays and throughout the week.

Prayer happens in different ways, at different times and in different places. Our main church prayer meetings take place fortnightly on Mondays, with an in-person meeting at 12 noon and an online meeting at 8pm.

Small groups and Bible study

Small groups and Bible studies give people the opportunity to read the Bible together, pray, encourage one another, and grow as disciples of Jesus.

Some groups meet regularly through the year, while others meet for a particular course or season. They are a good way to build friendships, ask questions, and support one another in following Jesus.

EQUIP

EQUIP is our flexible learning and discipleship pathway at St Peter’s.

It is designed to help people grow in understanding, confidence and service. Some people learn best in a regular group; others need something more flexible. EQUIP gives people the opportunity to learn at a pace that fits their life, while still being encouraged and supported by others.

EQUIP may include Bible overview, ministry training, theological study, cohort discussions, online learning, and occasional in-person gatherings.

Exploring Christian faith

We regularly offer opportunities for people to explore Christian faith, ask questions, and find out more about Jesus.

Courses such as Christianity Explored are suitable for those who are new to Christian faith, returning after some time away, or simply wanting to think things through more carefully.

Midweek communion and pastoral care

St Peter’s also has links with local residential and sheltered housing settings, where services or communion may take place during the week.

These quieter services are part of our pastoral care and wider ministry in the local community.

Coffee & Chat

Coffee & Chat is an informal midweek opportunity to meet with others from St Peter’s and enjoy conversation together.

It is a simple way to keep in touch, build friendships, and welcome people who would value company during the week.

Tiny Tots

Tiny Tots is our midweek group for babies, toddlers, parents and carers. It normally meets on Thursday mornings during term time.

There is time to play, chat, hear a short Bible story, sing together, and enjoy a simple snack.

Serving during the week

There are many practical ways to serve at St Peter’s during the week, including hospitality, administration, children’s work preparation, building care, practical work parties, pastoral care, and supporting events.
