St Peter's, Colchester

Hire Our Church Hall

St Peter’s Church Hall is available for one-off events and regular bookings. The hall usually comes with exclusive use and has several rooms, tables and chairs, and a fully equipped kitchen. Use of the oven or hobs must be requested when booking.

The hall can accommodate up to 60 people seated at tables, or 100 people seated closely or standing. The Church building is also available for some one-off events; separate charges and terms apply.

Charges

The standard hire charge is £30 per hour. Reduced rates may be available depending on the nature of the activity. Lower rates are also available for block bookings of 10 or more sessions. The Church Office will confirm the rate for your proposed booking.

How to book

Please make your request using our online booking form. Once we have considered your request, we’ll email an invoice and online payment link. A booking is confirmed when the required deposit or payment has been received.

For a one-off booking, the non-refundable deposit is equal to the cost of the first two hours. The balance is due 28 days before the event, or when you book if fewer than 28 days remain.

For a block booking of 10 or more sessions, the deposit is equal to the cost of the first four sessions. Hire charges are then invoiced monthly in arrears. The deposit is applied to the final invoice; any surplus is refunded, subject to the terms and conditions.

A £25 administration fee applies if alternative booking or payment arrangements are required.

Before you book

The hall may normally be booked between 8:00am and 10:30pm. We do not normally accommodate 18th- or 21st-birthday parties.

Please describe the planned activity fully on the booking form. Worship, spiritual ministry, a religious or political address, or a lecture requires the Vicar’s prior written approval. Details of the proposed programme must be sent at least four weeks before the event. The booking cannot be confirmed until written approval has been given.

Hirers are responsible for appropriate safeguarding arrangements, health and safety, insurance and any licences required for their event. If you plan to use the kitchen, you are responsible for food hygiene and must remove leftover food and drink after the event. Please declare any use of alcohol on the booking form; additional licensing requirements may apply.

Access and parking

The hall has limited disabled access. The main entrance has steps; a step-free route is available via the alley beside North Hill Noodle Bar. There is no wheelchair-accessible toilet and no on-site parking. Nearby public car parks are available, and some on-street parking may be available on North Hill in the evening.

Please contact the Church Office before booking if you would like to discuss access, mobility, seating, toilets or another practical need.
