The St Peter’s Project
The St Peter’s Project will create transformed and fit-for-purpose buildings, with the capacity to do more, enable more, and serve more. Our aim is to provide a place in Colchester where all are welcomed and there is something for everyone – from Bible studies, prayer groups and language classes to homework clubs, a drop-in group for the homeless, and a well-being café.

St Peter’s has embarked on this redevelopment project in order to improve the appearance and facilities of our main church building. Part of this work was completed in November 2017, and featured improvements to our main entrance on North Hill.
This phase will see the renovation of the church in order to provide modern toilet facilities and a kitchen to prepare and serve refreshments, plus cafe-style tables and chairs for activities, groups and events! We are currently seeking to find the finances to fund this work, and if you would like to donate you can do so below.

The need
Sadly, the Church building and adjacent Church Hall are currently suffering badly under the pressures of modern usage. Although ties already exist between the Church and Colchester’s many communities, once thriving activity programmes are suffering under inadequate infrastructure, and the Church’s vision to be one that touches individuals in need across the town is frustrated by dilapidated facilities.
Indeed, there are many in Colchester whose day-to-day existence is a struggle: their lives have broken down, their relationships have failed, their addictions are crushing them, and they have nowhere safe to lay their heads. For some, this brokenness is painfully obvious; for others, it is hidden from public gaze but no less tragically painful. The St Peter’s Project will equip us to better love and serve those in great need. But this work is not possible in the current facilities.
